Could you play a vital role in St Joseph’s future?
You may know about recent wonderful work to repair the dome, redecorate the church’s interior and restore our Grade 1 listed William Hill Organ. But St Joseph’s is massive. Major parts of the building are in a woeful state. This year, we had to close the Red Room and basement classrooms and teach our First Communion children elsewhere.
This crisis is harming our work
The spaces in need of repairs have traditionally been used by community groups outside of the church – AA meetings, coffee mornings with our elderly community, food banks and many more social initiatives for marginalised groups.
They also support the parish’s pastoral life, especially the faith journey of our children: hosting First Communion and confirmation classes, marriage preparation courses, Christian meditation, faith sharing, not to mention hundreds (perhaps thousands!) of social events.
But these cherished spaces are now quite unusable – with damp and peeling walls, leaking ceilings, worn floors, malfunctioning heating and unsafe wiring.
The initial estimated cost for repairs is in the region of £241,000.
We‘ve already received generous pledges, but there’s still a big hill to climb.
So any donation you can make will help, but the more you can support us, the sooner we can restore these rooms to warm and welcoming spaces for the whole community.
There are numerous ways to give to this appeal. Make a pledge, standing order, one off donation by cheque – please download all the giving forms here.
